Rice field goal

Rice's potential, game-winning field goal bounced off the goal post four times before falling short on Saturday, Oct. 24, against Middle Tennessee.

You almost feel like you should get extra points for a kick like this.

Rice’s double-overtime 41-34 loss on Saturday to Middle Tennessee in Houston isn’t something you would believe unless you see it for yourself after the potential game-winning field goal hit the uprights four times.

With the score tied at 34 all Rice needed was a field goal to win. Middle Tennessee failed to score.

Rice head coach Mike Bloomgren played it safe and kneeled in order to set up a field goal.

Kicker Collin Riccitelli’s potential game-winning 45-yard field goal bounced off the uprights four times before falling to the ground.

It hit off the right upright, off the crossbar, off the other upright and then again off the crossbar before falling to the ground.

After Middle Tennessee State blew a double-digit fourth-quarter lead, Asher O’Hara scored the game-winning touchdown in a 40-34 victory in double overtime against Rice on Saturday in Houston.
