Lady Raiders add Rice to home slate

Texas Tech works quick.

A day after the Lady Raiders basketball program learned two previously scheduled games were canceled due to COVID-19 precautions, Texas Tech announced it found. A replacement game as its hosts Rice at 6 p.m. Saturday.

All ticket and seat location for the previously scheduled Missouri game are valid for Saturday’s contest, per a Texas Tech news release, with the game being broadcast on ESPN+, an online streaming service.

On Tuesday, Texas Tech announced it’s previously scheduled road game Wednesday against Vanderbilt as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge was canceled, per a release.

“Due to COVID-19 issues in the Vanderbilt women’s basketball program, Wednesday’s Lady Raider basketball game against the Commodores in Nashville has been canceled,” the release stated.

On Monday, the Missouri women's basketball program canceled its next three games, the third being a Dec. 10 date with the Lady Raiders at United Supermarkets Arena.

History will reignite Saturday when the Lady Raiders and Owls matchup over the weekend, rekindling an in-state rivalry dating back to 1982 and includes 37 games.

During that span, Texas Tech owns a 33-4 record against Rice in the all-time series. The Raiders and Lady Owls will meet for the first time since 2005.

Texas Tech owns a 2-0 record after downing its first two opponents — UTRGV and Houston Baptist — at home.
