Arkansas State head men’s golf coach Mike Hagen announced the Red Wolves’ spring schedule, which includes five events prior to the Sun Belt Conference Championship April 25-28 at Mystic Creek in El Dorado, Ark.

“We’re very excited with our spring schedule,” said Hagen. “This schedule provides us the opportunity to play against some of the best teams in the nation.  The fields should help prepare us for a postseason run.  Most of all, the team is excited to start competing again.”

The spring slate is set to begin February 8 at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas for the Individual Spring Kickoff. The one-day, 36-hole event is slated to have players from A-State, Texas State, North Texas, SMU, Baylor and Little Rock among the field.

Next up, A-State heads to the University Club in Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU Invitational February 26-28. Schools scheduled to compete along with A-State are LSU, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Alabama, Illinois and Louisiana Tech.

The Red Wolves return to Grand National in Opelika, Ala., for the Tiger Invitational March 15-17. The field for the Tiger Invitational is set to include host Auburn along with LSU, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Texas A&M, UAB and South Alabama.

A-State then heads to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the Tar Heel Intercollegiate March 27-28 at UNC Finley Golf Course. The field is scheduled to include host North Carolina along with Maryland, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Maryland, Campbell, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Davidson, Loyola (Marlyand), James Madison, Georgia State, Gardner-Webb and Elon.

The final tune-up ahead of the Sun Belt Conference Championship sees the Red Wolves head to Houston, Texas and Westwood Golf Club for the Bayou City Classic April 5-6. The field currently consists of host Houston along with Sam Houston State, Rice, North Texas, Middle Tennessee and Texas State.

A-State, the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Champions, will defend their title two years later due to the COVID-19 pandemic cancelling that championship last season. The 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championship is set for April 25-28 at Mystic Creek in El Dorado, Ark. NCAA Regionals are scheduled for May 17-19 and the NCAA Championships will be played in Scottsdale, Ariz., at Grayhawk Golf Club with stroke play May 28-31 and match play June 1-2 to determine the team champion.
