Chamber Music Society presents Neave Trio and WindSync in free virtual concert

Neave Trio

Enjoy the exhilarating music of world class artists as the Chamber Music Society of Utica (CMSU) presents the Neave Trio and WindSync in a virtual double-header concert available for streaming — free of charge — from 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, through 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31.

Neave Trio — violin, cello and piano — opens the concert with their exuberant performance of the complete “Four Seasons of Buenas Aires” by tango-master Astor Piazzolla. The wind quintet WindSync then presents music inspired by space travel and celestial bodies, including selections from the Golden Records that were included aboard both Voyager spacecraft launched in 1977.

Admission to this concert is via the CMSU website, www.uticachambermusic.org, where you’ll find more information on Neave Trio and WindSync, plus program notes and news of upcoming virtual concerts.

Since forming in 2010, Neave Trio — violinist Anna Williams, cellist Mikhail Veselov, and pianist Eri Nakamura — has earned enormous praise for its engaging, cutting edge performances. CMSU audiences may remember the Neave’s brilliant Utica performance in January 2015, in the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute auditorium.

Neave has performed at esteemed concert series and festivals worldwide, has a highly acclaimed discography under the Chandos and Azica labels, and has held residency positions at universities across the United States and in Canada. Since the fall of 2017, the trio has served as Alumni Artists/Faculty Ensemble in Residence at the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Boston, Massachusetts. WindSync, based in Houston, Texas, has established itself as a vibrant chamber ensemble performing wind quintet masterworks, adapting beloved music to their instrumentation, and championing new works by today’s composers. The quintet eliminates the "fourth wall" between musicians and audience by often performing from memory, creating an intimate connection.

Formed at Rice University in 2009 by three graduate students in the Shepherd School of Music, WindSync launched an international touring career after winning the 2012 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition and the 2016 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. In 2018, they were medalists at the M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition. For information, visit www.windsync.org.
