Houston set for UTSA

HOUSTON -- The Houston soccer team travels to San Antonio to face UTSA on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. CT.

Streaming will be available here for a fee through Conference USA.

The match, initially scheduled for Feb. 21 in Houston, was not played due to inclement weather. With a couple of recent postponements, the Cougars have not played since Feb. 13 against East Carolina.

Series History

Houston and UTSA have faced-off seven prior times in program history with the Cougars winning four of those by a combined margin of 10-8. The Cougars program has defeated UTSA three consecutive times since 2010.

The two teams first matched-up in San Antonio on September 17, 2006, where Houston took home a 1-0 victory. The teams would meet every year between 2006 and 2010, but have only met twice since then with those coming in 2012 and 2016. With head coach Diego Bocanegra coming to Houston in 2017, this will mark the first time he has faced UTSA in the role.

Strong Start

Through three games this season the Cougars are off to a strong start at 2-1. The team has handily outscored it's opponents by a combined score of 11-2 led by Mia Brascia and Zionah Browne who each have five points.

As a team Houston is averaging 17 shots per game, 11 more than their opposition. The Cougars also hold advantages in corner kicks, penalty kicks, total shots, and shot percentage.

With only one away game so far this season for the team, Wednesday's match offers another shot at road experience for the squad.

Scouting the Roadrunners

UTSA is 1-2 thus far this season with a victory over Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and losses to Rice and UTRGV. Across those three games they have both allowed and scored two goals.

The Roadrunners' two goals this season have come from Celia Hilsabeck and Alana Mangan with Jill Schneider starting their past two games in net. One the sidelines they are led by head coach Derek Pittman in his third season at the school.
