Box Score ABILENE, Texas - Wichita State women's tennis was unable to come back from losing the doubles point and fell to Abilene Christian, 4-2, at the Eager Tennis Pavilion on Wednesday.

Doubles
The doubles portion of the match got off to a good start when the No. 3 duo of Natsumi Kurahashi and Alexandra Lazarova picked up a dominant 6-0 win. The matches versus the 1's and 2's saw the score tied multiple times, with neither side able to hold a lead. The Wildcats eventually broke the deadlock on both courts and took a lead into singles play.
 
Singles
The bottom of the Shocker lineup nearly carried the Shockers to a victory over Abilene Christian. Kurahashi played at No. 3 for the second match in a row and earned her first victory there in style, 6-2, 6-0. Jessie Zheng improved her team-best singles record to 6-3 with a win at No. 4, 6-2,1-6, 6-4.
 
Both Ting-ya Hsu and Lazarova forced third sets in their matches. Lazarova lost her match and Hsu went unfinished only down one.

"Natsu and Alex played a great doubles match, and on the other two courts we had chances, and it just slipped away. That obviously put some immediate scoreboard pressure on us going into singles. We fought hard; there were plenty of positives to come from today, but no doubt there were learning opportunities as well. We're disappointed in the final result, and we'll come back motivated to get back to work this weekend."
