WSOC: Feb. 23 Players of the Week

DALLAS – Rice midfielder Madison Kent (Offense), WKU defender Avery Jacobsen (Defense) and Old Dominion’s Jasmine Crawley (Goalkeeper) earned the third Spring 2021 Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors, presented by Surf & Turf Golf.
 
C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Madison Kent, Rice, Jr., Sugar Land, Texas
Kent came off the bench against Texas Southern on February 21 and scored a hat trick in just 46 minutes of playing time in an 8-0 victory. The junior from Sugar Land, Texas posted the Owls’ first three-goal game since 2017 and scored on three of her six shots in the contest.
 
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Avery Jacobsen, WKU, Sr., Las Vegas, Nev.
Jacobsen anchored the Hilltoppers defense that held Southern Illinois scoreless in a 4-0 shutout victory on February 20. WKU allowed the Salukis only nine shots, four on goal, and no corner kicks in the contest. The senior from Las Vegas also added an assist on a goal in the 23rd minute for her first point of the season.
 
C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week – Jasmine Crawley, Old Dominion, Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.
In her first start of the season, Crawley earned a 110-minute shutout in a 0-0 two-overtime draw with Liberty on February 20. She made one save in each half, one in the first OT and two in the second extra session. The junior from Virginia Beach, Virginia faced 13 shots overall and eight corner kicks from the Flames.
