WBB: All-Conference Teams Announced

DALLAS – Players from seven different schools are represented on the 2020-21 All-Conference USA women's basketball first team, featuring one graduate student, two seniors, four juniors and one sophomore. Six of the eight first teamers are guards, including Charlotte’s Jada McMillan and Octavia Jett-Wilson, Florida Atlantic’s Iggy Allen, Middle Tennessee’s Anastasia Hayes, Quincy Noble of North Texas and UTEP’s Katia Gallegos.  Rice center Nancy Mulkey and WKU forward Raneem Elgedawy represent the non-guards named to the first team.  Hayes and Mulkey were also on last season’s All-C-USA first team.

Strong guard play in the league this season continued to be reflected by six more backcourt stars listed on second team, meaning 12 of the 16 all-conference spots went to that position.  One center and one forward round out the second team.  Overall, 12 different schools placed at least one player on at least one of the two units. The combined group is compiled of four seniors, eight juniors, three sophomores and one graduate student.

Charlotte teammates Jacee Busick and Molina Williams, headline the conference’s All-Freshman team, joined by standout rookie performers from Southern Miss, UAB and WKU.

Rice’s Nancy Mulkey makes her third consecutive appearance on the five member All-Defensive Team being joined by stopdown standouts from Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Old Dominion, and WKU.

The Conference USA Superlative awards for Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Sixth Player of the Year and Coach of the Year will be announced Tuesday.
