MBB: 2020-21 All-Conference Awards Announced

DALLAS – Players from five different schools are represented on the 2020-21 All-Conference USA men's basketball first team, featuring two seniors, two juniors and one sophomore. North Texas guard Javion Hamlet and UTSA guard Jhivvan Jackson are the two seniors and both players are first team selections for the second straight season.  Marshall guard Taevion Kinsey and WKU center Charles Bassey represent the first team juniors, while Charlotte guard Jahmir Young is the lone sophomore on the first team unit. Voting on the awards was done by the C-USA head coaches and media members in each conference city.

Guard play was instrumental throughout the league again this season and that is reflected by that position taking 11 of the 15 spots on the first, second and third team All-Conference squads. Overall, 10 different schools placed at least one player on at least one of the three units, with five producing two honorees. The group is compiled of seven seniors, four juniors, three sophomores and one freshman.

Louisiana Tech’s Kenneth Lofton, Jr., an eight-time C-USA Freshman of the Week selection, headlines the conference’s All-Freshman team, joined by standout rookie performers from North Texas, Southern Miss, UTSA and WKU.

The C-USA six member All-Defensive Team consists of two stop down standouts from UAB and WKU, as well as one apiece from Louisiana Tech and Marshall.

The Conference USA Superlative awards for the Gene Bartow Coach of the Year, Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year will be announced on Tuesday.

The 2021 Air Force Reserve C-USA Men’s Basketball Championship presented by Baylor Scott & White Sports Medical Center Frisco tips off on Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT. For more information visit ConferenceUSA.com.
