FRISCO, Texas – The Marshall University men's basketball team will open the 2021 Air Force Reserve C-USA Basketball Championships presented by Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Frisco, Texas, on Wednesday night against Rice inside Ford Center at The Star.

HAVE YOU HERD
Marshall ended the regular season on with a sweep of Charlotte as it closed the regular season by winning six of its final seven games.
 
Jannson Williams blocked five shots in Friday's win over Charlotte. It tied his season-high which he has done three times this season.
 
In the second game against Charlotte, Andrew Taylor recorded a season-high 21 points, his second game of 20 or more points this season.
 
The Herd is 14-13 all-time in the Conference USA tournament and is 9-4 under head coach Dan D'Antoni.
 
Taevion Kinsey was named First-Team All-Conference USA on Tuesday. Kinsey is second in C-USA in scoring with 20.0 points per game, 26th most in the country, and has 11 games of 20 or more points this season including a career-high 31 on Dec. 3 in a win at Wright State.
 
Jarrod West was named Second-Team All-Conference USA, and was named to the conference's all-defensive team as he leads C-USA and is 10th in the country in steals per game (2.5), in total assists (119), assists per game (6.0) and in assist to turnover ratio (2.83) ranking 14th and 18th, respectively, in Division I men's basketball in the final two statistics.
 
The Green and White leads C-USA in points per game (80.5), assists per game (16.0), blocked shots per game (5.2) and assist to turnover ratio (1.34). Marshall ranks in the top 32 in NCAA Division I men's basketball in each of the respective categories, while ranking ninth in the blocked shots per game.
 
Kinsey has scored at least 10 points in his last 33 games. The last time he did not reach double-figure scoring was Jan. 22, 2020, in a 64-60 loss to Western Kentucky.
 
West has 252 career steals and is second all-time in Conference USA. He is 12 away from tying Charlotte's Eddie Basden for the most in conference history.
 
MAKING PROGRAM HISTORY
West and Williams are tied with Skip Henderson for the sixth most games played in a a Marshall uniform at 125, while Darius George is tied with six former Herd student-athletes at 111.
 
Kinsey sits alone at 25th in program history with 1,332 career points.
 
West is currently 11th in program history in assists at 417. He is 15 away from passing Jeff Battle and cracking the top 10. Battle has 431 career helpers.
 
SCOUTING RICE
The Owls defeated Southern Miss, 61-52, in the West Division Preliminary Round game on Tuesday night.
 
Coming into the contest, Max Fiedler led Rice in rebounding at 8.7 boards per game and assists at 3.7. He recorded a double-double in the contest with a game-high 17 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Quincy Olivari came into the game averaging a team-best 16.3 points as he fell one-point shy of a double-double with 10 rebounds and nine points.
 
Travis Evee was averaging 14.3 points per game coming into Tuesday, second most on the team.
