Memphis short at SMU, 4-1

DALLAS – The Memphis Tigers women's tennis team ran up against a red-hot SMU Mustangs squad Tuesday in Dallas, and the Mustangs came away with their fourth-straight win, 4-1.
 
Despite the loss, Memphis has still won two of its last three matches.
 
After SMU took the first doubles match, Memphis' No. 1 team of Sophie Abrams/Aran Teixido Garcia tied it up with a 7-5 win over Hadley Doyle/Jackie Nylander. The Mustangs took the final doubles match to earn the first point of the contest.
 
SMU then proceeded to win the first two singles points from the second and first spots to take a 3-0 lead in the match, but Memphis stayed alive with a 6-3, 6-4 Alisha Reayer win from the fifth position.
 
The Mustangs then clinched the match when Chandler Carter beat Teixido Garcia in the third spot, 6-4, 6-4.
 
Memphis (3-10) finishes up a series of matches in the Lone Star State Friday at Houston and Saturday at Rice.
