SAN MARCOS, Texas – No. 2 Texas Volleyball swept Texas State, 25-11, 25-11, 25-21, Tuesday night at Strahan Arena at the University Events Center. The Longhorns improved to 20-0 on the season.
Four different Longhorns finished with double digit kills, led by 14 from Logan Eggleston to go with 13 digs and one block. Skylar Fields added 12 kills and two blocks, while Melanie Parra and Asjia O'Neal each had 10 kills apiece. Parra also had 11 digs and O'Neal finished with three blocks.
Brionne Butler added five kills and two blocks and Molly Phillips had two kills and two blocks.
Jhenna Gabriel dished out 39 assists and added three service aces, eight digs and two blocks. In the second set, Texas held a slim 12-11 lead before Gabriel went to the service line and led the Longhorns on a 13-0 run to finish the set.
Nalani Iosia also had 12 digs and five assists to go with one service ace.
The Longhorns are back in action next Wednesday, March 23, hosting Rice at 4 p.m. at Frank Erwin Center. Texas then travels to take on Baylor on Friday, March 26 at 6 p.m.
