Abilene Christian bounces No. 3 seed Texas to put the first round of March Madness in the books

The NCAA men’s basketball tournament continued Saturday with what was supposed to be 16 more first-round games. But a few hours before the scheduled tip-off of Oregon-VCU, the NCAA announced the game would not be played and Oregon would advance after an issue with covid protocols in VCU’s program.

Virginia, which was upset in the first round of the 2018 tournament before winning it all in 2019, suffered another upset loss, this time to Ohio.
Georgetown, which stormed through last week’s Big East Tournament to a stunning win, was brought crashing back to earth.
Michigan, the top seed in the East region, took care of business against Texas Southern.
The NCAA on Saturday responded to the outcry regarding the disparities between the facilities provided for the men’s and women’s tournaments with what appears to be a large, state-of-the-art weight room at the San Antonio site of the women’s tournament.
