DALLAS – FIU’s Sydney Amparo (Offense), Rice’s Mijke Roelfsma (Defense) and Southern Miss’ Kendell Mindnich (Goalkeeper) earned the seventh Spring 2021 Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors, presented by Surf & Turf Golf.
 
C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Sydney Amparo, FIU, So., Downingtown, Pa.
Amparo scored her first career hat trick to lead FIU to a 3-1 win over Marshall, the Panthers’ first victory over the Herd in program history and FIU’s first C-USA win since 2016. The sophomore from Dowingtown, Pennsylvania had never scored a collegiate goal prior to her hat trick against the Herd on March 22. Amparo finished the match with seven shots in total, six on goal.
 
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Mijke Roelfsma, Rice, Sr., Den Haag, The Netherlands
Roelfsema played a key role in the Owls’ C-USA shutout road victory at Louisiana Tech on March 19. The senior from Den Haag, The Netherlands played 87 minutes and held the Lady Techsters to only six shots in the 2-0 victory, and only one shot on goal in the match.
 
C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week – Kendell Mindnich, Southern Miss, Sr., Melbourne Beach, Fla.
Mindnich recorded six saves against an explosive North Texas offense as the Golden Eagles won 2-1 on March 21 in a key C-USA West Division match. The senior from Melbourne Beach, Florida faced seven shots overall, and her six saves was a season high as Southern Miss climbed to the top of the West Division standings with the victory.
