AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas Volleyball fell in a five-set thriller to Rice, 25-10, 16-25, 23-25, 25-14, 13-15, on Tuesday afternoon in the Frank Erwin Center.
Logan Eggleston led the Longhorns with 21 kills, and added six digs, two service aces and a block. Melanie Parra led Texas with four service aces and put down 13 kills while adding seven digs and two blocks.
Brionne Butler had nine kills and seven blocks, Asjia O'Neal registered eight kills, three service aces and two digs. Jhenna Gabriel dished out 43 assists with nine digs and two service aces.
Defensively, Nalani Iosia led Texas with 13 digs, while Sydney Petersen had eight.
The Longhorns dropped 20-1 on the season, while Rice improved to 14-4. Texas returns to action on Friday, March 26 at 6 p.m. CT, when the take on No. 6 Baylor in Waco.
