Former Texas Longhorns senior forward Royce Hamm Jr. is transferring to the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels, per ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.

Hamm put his name in the NCAA transfer portal after seeing his minutes reduced during the season, playing only six minutes in the Longhorns loss to Abilene Christian in the NCAA Tournament.
The 6’8, 214-pounder from Houston enrolled at Texas as a member of the 2017 recruiting class ranked as the No. 90 overall player and the No. 20 power forward, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Hamm committed to the Longhorns over offers from Kansas State, Nebraska, Rice, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Tech.
Hamm largely served as a reserve during his career, but did see several stretches of increased playing time due to injuries — the Houston product played an important role in the five-game run to the NIT title in 2018-19 and started the final seven games of the 2019-20 season.
The Houston native averaged 1.9 points and 2.5 rebounds on 53-percent shooting this season while playing just under 9 minutes per game.
Hamm publicly vented his frustration on Twitter after not playing any minutes against Kansas State in the Longhorns 80-77 victory back in early February.
