OTF: April 14 Athletes of the Week

DALLAS – After the fourth week of 2021 outdoor track competition, UTSA’s Faith Roberson (Women’s Track), Rice’s Michelle Fokam (Women’s Field), North Texas’ Karlington Anunagba (Men’s Track) and Charlotte’s Keon Howe (Men’s Field) were selected as the April 14 C-USA Athlete of the Week honorees, presented by Surf & Turf Golf.
 
C-USA Female Track Athlete of the Week – Faith Roberson, UTSA, TR-Jr., Wall, Texas
Roberson continued to shine in the 400-meter hurdles in her debut season with UTSA by posting a win on April 9 at the Texas A&M Team Invitational in College Station. The junior transfer from Wall, Texas clocked a time of 58.84 seconds to finish ahead of TCU’s Kyla Robinson-Hubbard (59.08) and earn her first victory in the event this season. This is the second C-USA Female Track Athlete of the Week award for Roberson, who also earned the honor March 31. She still holds the top C-USA mark and ranks seventh nationally this season with her school-record time of 57.54 posted at the Texas Relays on March 27 in Austin.
 
C-USA Female Field Athlete of the Week – Michelle Fokam, Rice, Sr., Katy, Texas
Fokam set a personal-best distance in the triple jump with a winning leap of 13.52m (44’-4.25”) at the Texas A&M Invitational, which was close to besting Claudia Haywood's school record of 44’-6.25”, set in 1993. The senior from Katy, Texas, who set an EB Cushing Stadium record, currently ranks sixth overall in the NCAA this outdoor season, and the victory was her 12th in the triple jump during her illustrious outdoor career.
 
C-USA Male Track Athlete of the Week – Karlington Anunagba, North Texas, So., Lagos, Nigeria
Anunagba captured the title in the 100-meter dash April 10 at the North Texas Classic, and he ran on the second-place 4x100-meter relay that came in .03 seconds behind Oklahoma. The sophomore from Lagos, Nigeria, ran a personal record 10.27 seconds in the 100, and he was the anchor leg on the squad that clocked a time of 39.57 seconds, second all-time in UNT history. Anunagba is ranked second in C-USA in the 100, while the relay team has the top time.
 
C-USA Male Field Athlete of the Week – Keon Howe, Charlotte, Gr., Charlotte, N.C.
Howe had an outstanding effort in the pole vault event at the Gamecock Invitational hosted by South Carolina. The graduate student from Charlotte, North Carolina broke his own Charlotte outdoor school record (set in 2019) and the facility record with a new personal record pole vault of 5.51m (18’-1”). Howe currently ranks ninth nationally and first in Conference USA.
