UAB Baseball Hosts Rice in Final Homestand

BIRMINGHAM — The UAB baseball team welcomes Rice for the final homestand of the season on May 7-9 at Young Memorial Field.
 
SERIES SCHEDULE
Game one of the series is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch on Friday, May 7 at Young Memorial Field. Saturday is set for a seven-inning doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The series finale is a 12 p.m. first pitch on May 9.
 
UAB (15-30, 8-16 C-USA) vs. RICE (18-26-1, 6-17-1 C-USA)
Rice holds the overall record versus the Blazers, 30-14. The last meeting between the teams came on May 11-13, 2018 where the Owls won the series 2-1 in Houston.
 
UAB LATELY
The Blazers are coming off a series split with UTSA at Young Memorial Field. The Blazers took the first two games of the series, before falling in the final two games.
 
Chandler Simpson leads the team with a .317 batting average and 45 hits on the season. Colton Schultz is second on the team with a .289 batting average and has a team-high three triples.
 
RICE LATELY
Rice is coming off a 1-3 weekend versus No. 22 Southern Miss in Houston. Braden Comeaux leads the team with a .329 batting average and 53 hits, which ranks sixth in Conference USA.
 
RECORD WATCH
Jess Davis has 74 career stolen bases and sits tied for fifth with Jamal Austin (2009-11). He needs two more to move into a tie for third at 76 stolen bases.

BASEBALL AT YOUNG MEMORIAL FIELD
Fans, including Gold Card holders and students, will not be permitted to attend home baseball games played at Young Memorial Field. Attendees will be limited to the player pass list and limited premium spaces.
 
Attendees will be asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask at all times per state and county ordinance.
