Texas in the NCAA Championship: Texas earned the No. 2 overall seed in the 2021 NCAA Championships. UT is making its 36th NCAA Championship appearance, and the Longhorns have posted a 56-33 all-time record in NCAA Tournament play. Final Four: The Longhorns are making their eighth appearance in the NCAA semifinals ('Final Four') and first since the 2005 season (finished as national runner-up). With a win on Friday, Texas would advance to the NCAA championship match for the fifth time in program history.

Quite the Year: Texas is 29-1 in dual-match play this spring with four wins against Top-10 opponents and 10 victories over Top-25 foes. The Longhorns have defeated No. 2 UCLA (4-2), No. 7 Florida State (4-0), No. 7 Baylor (7-0), No. 8 Baylor (4-0), No. 13 Northwestern (4-1), No. 15 Baylor (6-1), No. 16 Ohio State (4-1), No. 18 UCF (4-0), No. 23 Baylor (4-0) and No. 23 Oklahoma (4-2). Simply Dominant: UT has recorded 20 sweeps in its first 29 dual-match victories. Texas has won the doubles point in 27 of its first 30 matches (26-1 when winning the doubles point) and registered a doubles mark of 58-12 (.829) in dual-match action. The Longhorns also boast a 128-14 record (.901) in singles play in dual-match action.

Youth is Served: What makes UT's performance in the 2021 season more impressive is how young this team is. The Longhorns' normal six-person singles lineup features at least four, and sometimes five, freshmen: Peyton Stearns on court 1, Lulu Sun on court 3, Charlotte Chavatipon on court 4 and Kylie Collins on court 5, while Malaika Rapolu has split time with Fernanda Labraña on court 6. In addition, two of UT's three doubles pairings are comprised of freshmen in Collins/Sun on court 1 and Chavatipon/Stearns on court 3.

Three-Peat: With its perfect 9-0 record in Big 12 play this year, UT claimed its third-consecutive outright Big 12 regular-season title. The Longhorns went 9-0 in Big 12 play in 2018 and matched the feat in 2019. There was no league champion crowned in 2020 due to COVID-19. Texas has now captured 23 regular-season league titles, including 11 in the Big 12 Conference (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001-co, 2002, 2004, 2007-co, 2018, 2019 and 2021) and 12 in the Southwest Conference (1983, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988-co, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996). This marks the first time that the Longhorns have won three-straight outright Big 12 regular-season titles since they earned four consecutive outright crowns from 1997-2000.

Big 12 Tourney Champs: Texas made it a sweep of the Big 12 regular-season and tournament titles with its 3-0 mark in Waco at the league's postseason tourney (April 23-25). The Longhorns topped No. 48 Kansas (4-0) in the quarterfinals, No. 23 Oklahoma (4-2) in the semifinals and No. 8 host Baylor (4-0) in the championship match. UT captured the Big 12 Tournament championship title for the 11th time in program history (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2012, 2013, 2018 and 2021). The Longhorns also claimed nine Southwest Conference tourney crowns (1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996).
