A Carson High School senior is headed for Ivy League school Yale after graduation this year.

Carlos Torres will graduate this Saturday, June 5 and will be going to New Haven, Connecticut to attend Yale University with a need-based scholarship covering full tuition and housing.

With a 5.3 GPA, Torres was an active participant in the school's swim team, which just won Regionals, as well as the Future Business Leaders of America and National Honor Society clubs.

Torres was also accepted to Brown University, Rice University, University of Southern California, Duke University, Dartmouth College, Vassar University, Swarthmore College and Washington University.

Torres grew up in the Carson City School District and is a first generation American and college student, following the footsteps of his sister.

Carson High School is also sending another student to attend an Ivy League university: last month, Carson High School senior Cristian Garcia Perez announced he was accepted into Dartmouth College.
