SAN DIEGO – Recent San Diego State graduate
Lauren Lee (Coppell, Texas) was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 Women's Volleyball Team for her combined performance on the court and in the classroom, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
With her selection, Lee earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, which will be open for voting by CoSIDA membership in late June. First-, second- and third-team honorees will be revealed in early July.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. District 8 is comprised of institutions in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawai'i, Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Canada.
Lee graduated from San Diego State last month with summa cum laude distinction in business management after maintaining a cumulative 3.97 grade point average. The Coppell, Texas, native attained SDSU scholar-athlete recognition in all three of her years on The Mesa after transferring from Rice University and has twice garnered Mountain West All-Academic accolades to date.
During the 2021 spring campaign, Lee assumed the starting libero duties as a senior, finishing the third in the Mountain West with 4.11 digs per set, which is tied for the program's fourth-highest single-season average in that statistic since 1984.
In a thrilling five-set upset at Boise State on March 20, Lee scooped up a career-high 36 digs (7.2/set) to earn MW Defensive Player of the Week honors. Her performance tied the highest dig total in the conference this year and marked the fifth-best effort on the Aztecs' single-match charts. Additionally, the figure is tops for the program in the 25-point scoring era, which began in 2008.
Lee also compiled 26 digs (5.2/set) vs. Utah State at home on March 12, helping the Scarlet and Black snap a five-match losing streak in a 3-2 victory.
Following her freshman season at Rice in 2017, Lee was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and was a recipient of the C-USA Academic Medal.
