Ed McCaffrey's son, QB Luke, transfers to Rice

Luke McCaffrey, the youngest son of former Denver Broncos wide receiver Ed McCaffrey, is transferring to Rice, the quarterback announced on Twitter earlier this week.

Luke previously transferred from Nebraska to Louisville in February. He decided to leave the Cardinals after just a few months with the program. Luke presumably believes he will have a better chance to win a starting job with the Owls.

While with the Cornhuskers, Luke completed 64.8% of his passes for 608 yards with three touchdowns against six interceptions. He also rushed 89 times for 530 yards and four touchdowns while at Nebraska.

Luke’s older brother, Dylan, transferred from Michigan to Northern Colorado, where Ed is the head coach, earlier this offseason. Dylan is also a quarterback. Their oldest brother, Max, is now the wide receivers coach at UNC after a brief career in the NFL as a receiver.

Ed’s second-oldest son, Christian, is a star running back for the Carolina Panthers. Ed won three Super Bowls in the NFL, including two with the Denver Broncos in the late 1990s.
