CA Exam 2021: Plea in Supreme Court for postponment, opt out, extra chance for candidates, increase in exam centres [LIVE UPDATES]

The Supreme Court is hearing a petition challenging the June 5 notification issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) concerning the May cycle of the Chartered Accountant (CA) exams.

The plea has sought option for opt out and also for an extra attempt to be given to the candidates who are appearing for the intermediate and final exams under the old syllabus.

The plea further sought postponement of the scheduled CA exams from July 6 to any later period when the COVID-19 situation normalizes, or until after teachers, students and invigilators are vaccinated.

Another prayer made was for the setting up of one CA exam centre in each and every district of India so that "exams can be conducted in a staggered manner.
