The Wildcats officially offered 6-foot-5 sharpshooter Brendan Hausen, a class of 2022 guard from Texas on Monday night.

Hausen announced the news on Twitter.

After a shortened sophomore season that was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hausen set gymnasiums on fire as a junior this past winter.

He solidified his spot as Amarillo High School’s all-time leading scorer with an impressive season where he averaged 17.6 points per game and knocked down 90 three-pointers. He also dished out 96 assists and helped the Sandies to an appearance in the Class 5A state semifinals. Hausen was one of the catalysts in their 24-4 campaign.

For his play, he was named the District 3-5A MVP.

Since live recruiting was reinstated in June, Hausen’s stock has skyrocketed. He is currently rated as a three-star prospect according to 247 sports, but he has already accumulated more than 20 offers.

Villanova is the latest school to enter the picture. Hausen also holds offers from Nevada, Arizona State, Houston, Oklahoma, Oregon, Minnesota, Penn State, Texas Tech, New Mexico, Texas A&M, fellow Big East schools Butler and Creighton, as well as Rice, SMU, TCU, Troy, Tulsa, UT-Arlington, Vanderbilt, Wichita State, and Howard.

The Wildcats are on the hunt for their second commit within the class of 2022. They already have a verbal pledge from four-star guard Mark Armstrong (South Orange, N.J./St. Peter’s Prep). They also have active offers for other class of 2022 prospects such as five-star forward Jalen Duren (New Castle, Del./Montverde Academy) and four-star forward Cam Whitmore (Odenton, Md./Archbishop Spaulding).
