New Market’s Reed Mascolo earned one of the Valley Baseball League’s top honors this week.

Mascolo (Wake Forest) was named the Valley Baseball League’s Pitcher of the Year. Mascolo went 4-1 with a 2.85 ERA in the regular season. He pitched 34.2 innings.

Mascolo struck out 42 and walked 16. He finished third in ERA, fourth in strikeouts and tied for third in wins in the league.

Winchester’s Austin Bulman was named the league’s Most Valuable Player. Bolman (Rice University) hit .379 with seven homers, 40 RBIs, 31 runs scored and 14 doubles for the Royals this season.

Bulman also had seven stolen bases. He finished second in the league in RBIs, tied for fifth in homers, first in doubles, tied for fifth in runs scored and tied for second in hits.

The area teams had 17 players, including eight for Strasburg, on the first and second All-VBL teams. Strasburg’s Ryan Galanie (Wofford, 3B), Chad Fairey (Clemson, OF), Rhett Lowder (Wake Forest, SP) and Ryan Ammons (Clemson, RP) were all first-team selections.

Tripp McKinlay (St. John’s River State, 2B), Brayton Brown (Auburn, OF), Jacob Cravey (Samford, SP) and Donovan Burke (JMU, SP) were all second-team selections for the Express.

Woodstock’s Aidan Nagle (Lewis-Clark, OF), Brandon Haggerty (York, SP) and Conor Miller (York, RP) were first-team selections. Edrick Felix (Central Florida, SS) was a second-team pick for the River Bandits.

Jackson Lancaster (Missouri, Utility) joined Mascolo on the first-team for New Market. James Bell (Fresno Community College, DH) was selected to the second team for the Rebels.

Front Royal’s Trent Jeffcoat (Tallahassee Community College, SS) was selected to the first team. Nick Amory (Marist, C) was the Cardinals only second-team selection.

Charlottesville manager Kory Koehler was named the Maynard “Mo” Weber Manager of the Year. The Tom Sox went 30-10 in the regular season and won the South Division by 10.5 games.

The All-VBL teams were chosen by team and media representatives across the Valley Baseball League.
