Texas Report Card: PFF grades from the Arkansas matchup
As painful as it may be for Texas fans, let’s take a final look back at the Arkansas loss prior to taking on Rice in Week 3.
There weren’t many positives to take away from this matchup, as the Longhorns were absolutely dominated by the Razorbacks in every phase of the game. The final score was 40-21, but it felt much more lopsided than that.
Texas couldn’t seem to get anything going on the offensive side of the ball. From the first two snaps of the game, you could tell Arkansas was prepared to limit running back Bijan Robinson on the ground.
On top of that, redshirt freshman quarterback Hudson Card had pressure in his face all game long due to poor offensive line play. Poor may be too nice of a word for how Texas performed in the trenches.
Although it was a hostile environment for his first road start, Card could have played better as well. A few missed deep balls early on could have completely changed the momentum of the game.
It wasn’t just on the offense, though. Pete Kwiatkowski’s defensive unit gave up 333 rushing yards on the ground. Kicker Cameron Dicker missed a field goal for the second consecutive week, and also bobbled the snap on a punt that Arkansas later took advantage of. Needless to say, it was a game to forget for Texas.
As far as Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades from this game, the top performer on offense was right tackle Derek Kerstetter, while safety B.J. Foster held that honor on the defensive side. Take a look at which Longhorns graded well, and which ones were on the wrong end of the spectrum.
