Pianist Jon Kimura Parker to perform at Rosario Resort

On Monday, Oct. 4, the elegant Music Room at Rosario Resort and Spa will be the setting for a lively Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival Salon Concert of solo piano at 5 p.m.

The evening’s program, Jon Kimura Parker: Fantasies and Beyond, weaves two very different Fantasies among works by W. A. Mozart, Maurice Ravel, Franz Schubert, John Adams, and William Hirtz. Husband of OICMF founder and Artistic Director Aloysia Friedmann, Jon Kimura “Jackie” Parker is the Festival’s Artistic Advisor. He is on the faculty at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and is a veteran of international concert stages, performing concertos with the world’s most esteemed orchestras. He is the Artistic Director for the Honens International Piano Competition and was recently named Creative Partner for the Minnesota Orchestra’s Summer at Orchestra Hall series. Born and raised in Canada, Jackie studied at the Vancouver Academy of Music and the University of British Columbia, the Banff Centre, and The Juilliard School. He has been appointed an Officer of The Order of Canada and has received Honorary Doctorates from the University of British Columbia and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.

For the safety and comfort of all attending, concertgoers must show proof of Covid-19 vaccination upon arrival and face masks are required at all times while inside the building. Seating is very limited with social-distance spacing between parties.
