One of the many benefits of beating two ranked teams and vaulting to No. 8 in The Associated Press Top 25 poll is increased attention from recruits.
Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said Monday that his program has seen that, and excitement, from prospects during the Razorbacks’ 4-0 start, which includes a 40-21 win over then No. 15 Texas and a 20-10 victory over then-No. 7 Texas A&M.
“We sure have,” Pittman said. “We noticed it after Week 2 and then we have noticed it after Week 4. It is certainly an exciting time to recruit to the University of Arkansas.
“It actually kind of solidifies our belief in what we can do at the University of damn Arkansas. With that said, it is going over to the recruits more and more. You still have to beat every college in the country on the guy, but it is fun to be legitimately in the conversation.”
Arkansas has 18 commitments in its 2022 recruiting class, which is 21st nationally by 247 Sports composite rankings. It also includes the assessments of ESPN and Rivals, which has the Razorback class 16th in the country.
Rivals has Arkansas’ haul No. 5 in the 14-team SEC while 247 Sports has it seventh in the league.
The Razorbacks also have a pair of 2023 pledges in tight ends Shamar Easter (6-5, 225) of Ashdown and Jaden Hamm (6-6, 225) of Eudora, Kan. Their commitments have Arkansas ranked eighth nationally by both Rivals and 247 Sports.
