DALLAS – UAB forward Laura Zemberyova, who scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime to beat C-USA rival Southern Miss, UTSA defender Kendall Kloza, who led the Roadrunners to a shutout of North Texas in C-USA play, and WKU goalkeeper Alexis Bach, who had three saves in a shutout of C-USA foe Rice, earned the seventh 2021 Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors, presented by Surf & Turf Golf.

Zemberyova was selected as Offensive Player of the Week, Kloza earned Defensive Player of the Week honors and Bach was named C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week.

C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Laura Zemberyova, UAB, Fr., Presov, Slovakia
Zemberyova broke a 1-1 deadlock in the second overtime with a goal in the 109th minute to hand C-USA West Division rival Southern Miss its first defeat in conference play. The Blazers were applying pressure in the second OT, and after a Blazers shot was blocked, a USM defender's clearing attempt hit off a UAB player and went to the freshman forward from Presov, Slovakia. Zemberyova then blasted a shot past the Golden Eagles’ goaltender on the left side for the game-winning goal.

C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Kendall Kloza, UTSA, Sr., San Antonio, Texas
Kloza led the UTSA defense to a 1-0 overtime victory over (RV) North Texas as her efforts helped hold the high-powered Mean Green to 10 shots (four on goal). The senior defender from San Antonio, Texas led the team with 12 interceptions and won 83% of her defensive challenges against UNT. She also tied for the team high with two shots (one on goal) and played all 95 minutes in the contest.

C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week – Alexis Bach, WKU, Gr., Lowville, New York
Bach notched her fifth clean sheet of the season against reigning C-USA champion (RV) Rice. Bach made three saves, and the graduate student from Lowville, New York broke several Rice attacks with her aggressive style of play in net. It was only the second time Rice has been shutout this season as the Owls came into the match averaging 1.73 goals per game. Bach’s current 0.54 goals-against average is tops among C-USA netminders.
