Men’s Golf Adds Bentwater Intercollegiate to Fall Schedule

Marcus Wochner, Julio Rios-Brache & Logan Vargas to compete as individuals at three-day tournament

MONTGOMERY, Texas – Three University of Houston Men's Golfers will compete as individuals at the Bentwater Intercollegiate, beginning Monday morning on the Miller Course at Bentwater Yacht & Country Club.
 
Junior Marcus Wochner and freshmen Logan Vargas and Julio Rios-Brache will represent the Cougars on the 6,788-yard, par71 layout. The Houston trio will play 18 holes, beginning at 8:30 a.m., each day, through Wednesday.
 
The Cougars will compete against student-athletes from Texas State, Rice, UTSA, Wichita State, UT Rio Grande Valley, South Dakota State, South Alabama, Prairie View A&M, Houston Baptist, Nicholls, Midland College and host Sam Houston State.
 
ABOUT the COUGARS
Wochner will compete in his third fall tournament. He posted a 71 in the Final Round of the season-opening Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills on Sept. 7 and opened the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate with a 71 five days later.
 
Rios-Brache closed the Washington County Individual with a 69 on Sept. 6 in his inaugural collegiate appearance.
 
Vargas will make his collegiate debut in Monday's First Round.

UP NEXT
Following the Bentwater Intercollegiate, the Cougars close out their fall schedule when they compete at The Williams Cup presented by Stitch Golf on Oct. 25-26 at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C.
 
From there, Houston will take its winter break before opening the spring season at the Border Olympics on Feb. 14-15 at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
