FDP on data science applications kicks off at RBU

CHANDIGARH: An international online Faculty Development Programme on Application of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning in Health Science, Social and Business Prospect” organized by the University School of Engineering and Technology (USET) got underway at the Rayat Bahra University here today.

The main objective of this one-week faculty development programme is to acquaint the participants with the recent technological advancements occurring in areas of Data Science (DS) and Machine Learning (ML) and their applications. The FDP mainly addresses applications of DS and ML. FDP will be helpful for the faculties and researchers working in the areas of DS and ML.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University and chief patron of the organizing committee, speaking on the occasion said that the main objective of this one-week faculty development programme is to acquaint the participants with the recent technological advancements occurring in areas of Data Science (DS) and Machine Learning (ML) and their applications.

He said that the FDP would mainly address applications of DS and ML and expressed optimism that the FDP will be helpful for the faculties and researchers working in the areas of DS and ML.

Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor Rayat Bahra University, and patron of the organizing committee, said the Faculty Development Programme was designed to train and motivate the faculty members from universities and engineering colleges around the world.

Sahila Bahra and and Gurinder Singh Bahra, Vice-Presidents, Rayat Bahra University, and Prof BS Satyal, Registrar of the Rayat Bahra University, who are co-patrons of the organizing committee, were prominent among those present on the occasion.

Dr Anurag Dixit, Dean, University School of Engineering & Technology (USET), Rayat Bahra University and Convenor of the organizing committee, said that the University School of Engineering and Technology (USET) has always been at the forefront of innovation and has attained a leading position in the field of technical and professional education.

The key resource persons participating in the FDP include Prof Aditya Ghose, Professor of Computer Science, University of Wollongong, Australia, Prof Moshe Y Vardi, Professor in Computational Engineering, Rice University, United States, Prof Anand Agrawal, President BlueCrest University College, Ghana, Dr Neema B Hann, Leeds Beckett University, UK, Prof Pradeep Kumar, Head (CS & IT) MANUU (Central University), Hyderabad, Prof Krishna N Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor, Victoria University, Kampala, Uganda, and Prof Sanjoy Das, Head (CS) IGNTU (Central University) Manipur.
