Kasey Perry, who earned a clean sheet on the road at (RV) WKU, earned the eighth 2021 Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors, presented by Surf & Turf Golf.
Schultz was selected as Offensive Player of the Week, Kennett earned Defensive Player of the Week honors and Perry was named C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week.
C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Delaney Schultz, Rice, Jr., St. Louis, Missouri
Schultz scored the game-winning goal in overtime and added an assist in a 2-1 victory over C-USA foe UAB that propelled the Owls to the top of the C-USA West Division standings. She picked up as assist on Rice’s first goal by flicking the ball over her head to
Izzy McBride, who broke a scoreless tie in the final minute of the first half. In overtime, the junior midfielder from St. Louis, Missouri scored the game-winner in the second minute of extra time as she headed in a corner kick into the left corner of the net. It was her third three-point game of the season, and she is tied for first in C-USA with 21 points.
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Riley Kennett, Old Dominion, Sr., Toms River, New Jersey
Kennett scored the game-winning goal that pushed Old Dominion to the top of the C-USA East Division standings in a 1-0 victory at (RV) WKU. She had a standout game on the ODU back line that allowed WKU only four shots overall, and just one on goal. The senior defender from Toms River, New Jersey scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute of the first half when she volleyed a shot off a Monarchs corner kick into the top corner of the net. Kennett played the entire game and was instrumental in ODU’s fifth-consecutive shutout in conference action as the Monarchs improved to 5-0-0 in C-USA games.
C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week – Kasey Perry, Old Dominion, Sr., Dayton, Ohio
Perry earned her second C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week award after a 1-0 road shutout of (RV) WKU that moved the Monarchs into first place in the East Division and handed the Hilltoppers their first conference defeat. She organized the ODU back line that allowed only four shots overall, and the senior from Dayton, Ohio made one save to extend the Monarchs’ run of consecutive C-USA shutouts to five.
