Games This Week

WEST ORANGE-STARK over ORANGEFIELD—The Mustangs “No-Name” defense had better be ready to stop the Bobcats’ potent ground game, because it is a good one. However, the ‘Stangs appear to have all their ducks in a row as they march toward another district championship. The winner of this intra-county fracas will have sole possession of first place in District 11-4A-II.

LITTLE CYPRESS-MAURICEVILLE over VIDOR—It looks like the Battlin’ Bears are jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire after disposing of the undefeated Huffman Falcons last week and must face the talented Vidor Pirates, another District 10-4A-I team with an unblemished record. Whatever worked in last week’s upset victory should be the ticket for another upset in this home game Friday night.

SILSBEE over BRIDGE CITY—Neither team can afford another district loss, especially the home team Silsbee Tigers, who already have two league setbacks. The Cards have been hanging tough and really need to pull off this huge upset.

DEWEYVILLE over SABINE PASS—The Pirates opened up the defense of their district championship on the right foot last week with a victory at Hull-Daisetta and need to continue their solid play again this week down at Sabine Pass.

ABILENE CHRISTIAN over LAMAR—The Cardinals got a preview last month of how tough this Western Athletic Conference is going to be when they played this team in a nonconference game. This one’s for real and the result will be the same.

McNEESE STATE over NORTHWESTERN STATE—If the Cowboys are to win another game this season it may just happen Saturday in Natchitoches. Otherwise, the future looks mighty dismal.

HIGH SCHOOL—Beaumont West Brook over Kingwood, Port Arthur Memorial over Beaumont United, Nederland over Dayton, Port Neches-Groves over Kingwood Park, Huffman over Lumberton, Hamshire-Fannett over Hardin-Jefferson, East Chambers over Buna, Kirbyville over Hardin, Newton over Warren, Evadale over Hull-Daisetta.
