Day Two Concludes with a Houston Sweep

Houston Swimming & Diving completes successful weekend
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving programs wrapped up day two of the Rice Invitational and Houston Diving Invitational with a Cougar sweep.
At the Rice Invitational, Houston secured a win totaling 191 points to the Owls' 143. The Cougars earned its first victory of the day in the 500-Yard Free which resulted in a 4:59:16 finish by Mary Catherine Jurica.
The Cougars also secured first-place finishes in the 100-Yard Breaststroke, 200-Yard Free, 50-Yard Free, 200-Yard IM, and 400-Yard Free Relay.
"Allan (McCallum) and I are very pleased with our performances this weekend. We want to see progress at each dual meet and that's exactly what we saw," stated Head Coach Tanica Jamison. "I look forward to the next few weeks of training before we compete against Arkansas at the end of the month. We will use the next few weeks to continue our progress in training and clean up some of the small details before Phill Hansel."
Across the city at the Houston Diving Invitational, the Cougar Diving program competed against North Texas and the University of Idaho. The divers competed in the 1-Meter and 3-Meter on day one with platform diving taking place on Saturday.
Houston led in first place sweeping the first four places on the scoreboard. Every diver who competed this weekend hit their zone score at least once.
Chase Farris topped the leaderboard in the platform competition scoring 238.80. Houston's Jolie Blodgett, Emilia Waters, and Josie Graves finished the meet behind Farris in second through fourth.
