A nationwide search was launched last May, when President David Leebron announced he plans to step down next summer after 18 years leading one of the nation’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning.

The new president, only the eighth in the university’s 109-year history, will be introduced and speak before a gathering of university and student leaders. After the event, Rice’s next leader will be available for interviews. News media will be welcome to shoot campus b-roll and ask students for their reaction.
