Second Half Surge Not Enough at Rice

Houston, Texas—The Southern University Jaguars (1-2, 0-0) second half spurt comes up short against Rice University (2-1, 0-0) as they fall by a score of 81-63 inside Tudor Fieldhouse on Tuesday evening.

"Just couldn't get it going offensively, said Head Coach Sean Woods. When you don't throw the ball in the hole as many times as we didn't, the other team is going to score especially with them being at home. We didn't make enough shots to keep our defense in it. I thought we did a good job with our press in the second half, but it just wasn't enough to get us over the hump. Fatigue plagued us late in the game with the way we fought back to tighten the score, but I'm proud of our guys and how they played and it's only going to help us moving forward."
