EVANSTON, Ill. – The New Orleans men's basketball team played a strong all-around non-conference contest against Big Ten power Northwestern, which included a 59-58 lead with 7:55 left in the game, but the Wildcats caught fire and ended the tilt on a 9-of-11 run from the field to hand the Privateers an 83-67 loss at the Welsh-Ryan Arena on Tuesday evening.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- For the third game in a row, point guard
Derek St. Hilaire paced the Privateers in scoring with another impressive night. The graduate student dropped 27 points (18 in the first half) to go with four boards, three assists and a steal. In 37 minutes of play, St. Hilaire committed just a single turnover as he commanded the Privateers offense. It is the sixth straight game that the Atlanta, Ga. native has finished with double-digit points, a streak dating back to last season. The performance was also the fourth 20-plus point game of his New Orleans career.

Tyson Jackson had a big day inside with 10 points (on 4-of-5 shooting), three assists, two rebounds and a steal. It was the first time the center has reached double-digit points so far in his young UNO career.

Robby Robinson finished with a team-high six rebounds and was efficient from the field as he posted six points (on 3-of-5 shooting). He also snagged two steals and had a block.

Troy Green chipped in eight points, three boards and two helpers. He went a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

Simeon Kirkland (six points, three rebounds),
Daniel Sackey (three points, two rebounds, an assist) and
Kmani Doughty (three points, two boards, two assists and a block) also contributed for New Orleans.
- The back and forth contest featured four times that the game was tied and had eight lead changes overall.
- The game was even in the paint (UNO 28 – NW 34 points in paint) and on the break as both teams showed off the ability to run (UNO 13 – NW 17 in fastbreak points).
- New Orleans continued its hot run at the charity stripe as the squad converted 12-of-15 chances.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northwestern jumped out to a 16-8 lead through the first 7:29 of play.
- New Orleans then went on a 12-5 run of its own, led by St. Hilaire's six points over the stretch, to cut it to a one-point game at 21-20 with 8:35 left in the first half. The Privateers went 5-of-7 from the field over this time.

- The Wildcat got up as much as eight but the Privateers answered back with a 17-7 advantage over the final six-plus minutes to take a 37-35 lead into the half.

- UNO started the second on a 9-2 run to take its largest lead of the game at 46-37 with 17:16 to go.
- A back and forth portion of the game resulted in New Orleans still up by three with 11:30 left.
- Northwestern tied the game at 50 with 10:31 left in the half and New Orleans went back ahead 57-55 at the 8:24 mark.
- After trading baskets, a Jackson layup off a feed from St. Hilaire gave the Privateers a 59-58 advantage with 7:51 left to play in the contest.

- The Wildcats caught fire at the end of the game and finished on a 25-8 run which included marks of 9-of-11 from the field and 5-of-7 from beyond the arc to close out the 83-67 victory.
