Oklahoma State's women's basketball team ran its winning streak to three with a 68-48 win over Rice on Saturday afternoon inside Tudor Fieldhouse.

After scoring the first basket of the game, OSU would miss its next eight attempts from the floor, going scoreless for nearly five minutes. However, the Cowgirl defense stifled the Owls in the period, limiting them to a 3-of-13 effort and forcing six turnovers.

Lauren Fields knocked down a 3-pointer with less than a minute to go in the quarter before Rice answered with one of its own on the next trip down the floor.

OSU held a 10-8 lead after the first 10 minutes.

The Cowgirls opened the second with the first 12 points to extend the margin to double digits at 22-8 with four minutes to go in the half. Lauren Fields would drill a 3-pointer with seven ticks remaining to send OSU into the halftime locker room with a 31-15 advantage.

Both teams started to find their rhythm offensively in the third with OSU hitting four of its first eight shots and Rice connecting on a pair of early treys. The Cowgirls shot 47 percent in the period, while the Owls connected on five 3-pointers.

The Cowgirls held a 49-35 advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.

OSU used a quick 9-0 run over the first 90 seconds of the fourth to push the margin to 58-35, forcing a Rice timeout. The Cowgirls scored 15 of the first 17 points in the final stanza to pull away.

Sophomore Ruthie Udoumoh entered the contest with just two career points, but finished with 12 points and four rebounds to lead the way for OSU. Fields also finished in double figures with 13 points. Twelve different Cowgirls scored in the contest.

For the contest, OSU shot 45 percent from the floor while holding Rice to a 30-percent effort and forcing 19 turnovers.
