VB: Rice Falls in the NCAA Second Round

DALLAS –The No. 2 ranked Longhorns of Texas defeated Rice, 3-0, in the second round of NCAA play at Gregory Gymnasium (25-21, 25-23, 25-19) Friday evening, ending the season for Rice.
 
The Owls posted an overall record of 20-7 and went 12-0 in C-USA play which made them top seed in the West Division before falling in the league Championship to WKU. Rice went on to defeat San Diego, 3-0 in the NCAA First Round for their second NCAA Tournament victory in program history before facing the No. 2 seeded Longhorns.
                 
Overall, the Owls had 40 kills, eight blocks, 30 digs and a .340 hitting percentage against the Longhorns. Nicole Lennon led Rice with nine kills, while Carly Graham finished with 27 assists and six digs. Shaylee Shore gave the Owls six kills, six points and a .600 hitting percentage while Anota Adekunle added two blocks, nine points and .538 hitting percentage for Rice.
