Malia Fisher

Hebron Christian grad Malia Fisher was voted Conference USA Freshman of the Week on Monday after helping the Rice University women’s basketball team to a win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last week.

The forward had 13 points (her third straight game in double figures) on 4 of 10 shooting and 3 of 4 free throws in the win, in addition to seven rebounds and a game-high four steals. She ranks second among all Conference USA players in rebounds per game (9.7) and is the second-leading rebounder in NCAA Division I among all freshmen. She also ranks second in the conference in blocked shots per game (1.57).
