FB: HBU Signs 9 as NCAA Early Period Begins

Huskies add four Houston area commits

HOUSTON – The HBU football program signed nine future student-athletes to National Letters of Intent, head coach Vic Shealy announced as the NCAA Early Signing Period began Wednesday.
 
The class consists of quarterbacks Scott Pfeiffer and AJ Wilson, offensive lineman Nolan Hay, wide receivers Deuce McMillan and Karl Reynolds, defensive end Jacoby Brass, linebacker Kalim Mikhail and defensive backs Jaden King and Caleb King (no relation). Six of the signees are from Texas, including four from the greater Houston area, with two from Oklahoma and one from California.
 
Jacoby Brass – DE – 6-2 -220 – Houston, Texas/North Shore
Has been a two-year letterwinner at North Shore High School for coach Jon Kay and will compete for the state 6A Division I championship Saturday in Arlington. Is the fourth ranked defensive end in Texas according to MaxPreps. As a senior, has recorded 50 tackles, nine sacks and 12 tackles for loss. Made the A/B Honor Roll.
 
Nolan Hay – OL – 6-4 – 275 – Katy, Texas/Taylor
Was a two-year letterwinner at center at James E. Taylor High School in Katy for coach Chad Simmons. Recorded 70 pancake blocks and was a unanimous first-team all-district selection.
 
Caleb King – S – 6-0 – 180 – San Antonio, Texas/Veterans Memorial
Was a three-year letterwinner at Veterans Memorial High School for coach Richard Mendoza. As a senior, earned All-District 12-5A First Team honors. As a junior, made 56 tackles, two interceptions, which he returned for a total of 75 yards, and forced a fumble.
 
Jaden King – CB – 5-11 – 165 – Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington
Was a three-year letterwinner at Booker T. Washington High School for coach Jonathan Brown. Is the 21st ranked defensive back in Oklahoma according to MaxPreps. As a senior, recorded 30 tackles, 10 pass breakups and three interceptions to earn all-district honors. As a junior, made 25 tackles with seven pass breakups to earn all-district and all-state honors. Made four interceptions in one game to break the state record.
 
Joshua "Deuce" McMillan II – WR – 5-9 – 160 – Fulshear, Texas/Tompkins
Was a two-year letterwinner at Tompkins for coach Todd McVey, after playing one year at Cypress Lakes. As a senior, had 51 receptions for 851 yards and seven touchdowns to earn first-team all-district honors. Had a 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for the second-longest in Texas High School history and also returned a punt return for a touchdown. Is a Houston Touchdown Club Offensive Player of the Year finalist. As a junior, had 31 catches for 522 yards and eight touchdowns. As a sophomore, had 27 catches for 691 yards and five touchdowns. Also ran track and played basketball. Made the A/B Honor Roll every semester. His father, Joshua, played football and his mother, Konnett, ran track at Rice.
 
Kalim Mikhail – LB – 6-1 – 215 – La Verne, Calif./Bonita
Was a three-year letterwinner at Bonita High School for coaches Steve Bogan and Bo Beatty. As a senior, made 146 tackles and had 703 total yards and seven touchdowns on offense to earn All-Mountain West First Team honors. As a sophomore, made 47 tackles and led the team in takeaways, including three interceptions. Earned the Varsity Scholar Athlete Award. His father, Karim, played football at Azusa Pacific from 1996-98, where he was a member of HBU head coach Vic Shealy's NAIA national championship team. His mother, Lynsey, played volleyball and ran track at the University of La Verne.
 
Scott Pfeiffer – QB – 6-3 – 180 – Edmond, Okla./Santa Fe
Was a two-year starter at Santa Fe High School for coach Kyle White. As a senior, had a 120.3 QB rating, completing 69 percent of his passes with 2,505 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and six interceptions. As a junior, had a 121.8 QB rating, completing 67 percent of his passes with 2,374 passing yards, 29 touchdowns and nine interceptions. His father, Roger, played football at Oklahoma State from 1992-96. Member of the National Honor Society.
 
Karl Reynolds – WR – 6-2 – 175 – Humble, Texas/Nimitz/Navarro
Began his collegiate career at Navarro College for coach Scott Parr and will join the Huskies for the spring semester. Had 652 receiving yards and led the NCJAA with 15 touchdowns. Posted a 4.0 GPA as a freshman. Played at Nimitz High School for coach Richard Slater. Had 600 yards and 15 touchdowns.
 
AJ Wilson – QB – 6-2 – 166 – Huntsville, Texas/Huntsville
Was a three-year letterwinner at Huntsville High School for coach Rodney Southern. As a senior, completed 132-of-260 passes for 1,333 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions with 301 rushing yards and a touchdown to earn second-team all-district honors. Was also an academic all-district honoree. As a junior, completed 142-of-263 passes for 1,882 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions with 336 rushing yards and six touchdowns to earn all-district honorable mention.
 
The traditional signing period will begin on Feb. 2, 2022, when Shealy will announce the entire signing class during a live streamed event on campus.
