Oregon Ducks targeting New Mexico’s Drew Mehringer as tight ends coach, per report

Oregon is targeting the 2019 Rivals national recruiter of the year to be its new tight ends coach.

The Ducks are pursuing New Mexico quarterbacks coach Drew Mehringer to be the next member of Dan Lanning’s staff, according to Yahoo Sports.

Mehringer, 34, served as co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach at FAU in 2020 and receivers coach and passing game coordinator at Texas from 2017-19, when he was named national recruiter of the year.

He was offensive coordinator at Rutgers in 2016, when he was the youngest play-caller in the Power 5, was receivers coach at Houston in 2015 and co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at James Madison in 2014.

A former quarterback at Rice, Mehringer was a student assistant at his alma mater (2007-09) and a graduate assistant at Iowa State (2010-11) and Ohio State (2012-13).
