DALLAS — North Texas men's basketball's Aaron Scott was voted the Conference USA Freshman of the Week on Monday after scoring eight points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the Mean Green's 75-43 win over Rice on Saturday. It is the first time he's been named to the honor.

Scott came off the bench for UNT (8-3) but played 27 minutes and was critical to holding the elite Owls offense to a season-low 43 points. He also grabbed five offensive rebounds in the win as the team grabbed 28 offensive rebounds. The 28 offensive rebounds are the most by a C-USA team in a league game in over 10 years. Scott averages over two offensive rebounds per game this season.

The 27 minutes was a season-high for the Spring, Texas, native. The 10 rebounds marks the second time this year he's grabbed double-digit rebounds. He had 12 rebounds on Dec. 4 versus LSU Shreveport. He also had 10 points in the win over LSUS.

Through 11 games this year, Scott has played in every game and is averaging 4.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

This is the second consecutive year North Texas has had a player named C-USA Freshman of the Week. Current sophomore Rubin Jones was named the C-USA Freshman of the Week last year on Jan. 11.

UNT hosts UAB on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT. Single-game tickets can be purchased by visiting here.

In honor of the new year, fans can purchase two Mean Green men's basketball tickets for Thursday's contest for just $20.22. The promotion is also valid for Saturday's home game versus Middle Tennessee.
