The Lady Raiders earned the program's first top-10 victory since 2011 Wednesday, when they dropped the Texas Longhorns 74-61. Wednesday's win was also Tech's first win in Austin since the 2012-13 season. Tech has now defeated UT in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2011-12, 2012-13. In the victory, the Lady Raiders received 23 points from All-American Vivian Gray and 21 points from guard Bre'Amber Scott. Scott shot 5-of-6 from the field and made 9-of-10 from the line, while Gray added nine rebounds and three steals. Tech made 33-of-44 free throws including 12-of-13 in the fourth and final period. The Lady Raiders held Texas to just 3-of-15 shooting from deep in the second period, and to just 29.2 percent shooting for the game.  After seeing its lead cut to just 34-30 at the break, Tech used 15 made free throws in the third period to outscore UT 21-12 in quarter. The Lady Raiders led by as many as 18 points, and lead for over 38 minutes.
