Houston picks up praise in publication's league preview

HOUSTON – Seven Houston Baseball student-athletes were spotlighted by D1Baseball as the publication unveiled its American Athletic Conference preview Monday.
 
Houston represented two of the conference's top-10 prospects for the 2022 MLB Draft with right-handed pitcher Logan Clayton checking in at No. 7 and righty Jaycob Deese at No. 9. First baseman Ryan Hernandez (No. 34), righty Derrick Cherry (No. 38) and righty Ben Sears (No. 40) also made appearances on the list.
 
Cougar outfielder Cameron Nickens was touted as the league's No. 18 overall prospect for the 2023 MLB Draft and was tabbed the league's No. 15 impact freshman. Infielder Brandon Burckel was recognized as the league's No. 13 impact freshman.

FAN APPRECIATION DAY
The University of Houston Baseball program is set to host its annual Fan Appreciation/Baseball Alumni Day on Sunday at Sanders Field at Schroeder Park.
 
Alumni registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The 7-inning game will feature the alumni against the current roster. First pitch will be at noon and admission is free.
 
Postgame, fans can grab autographs while kids will have the opportunity to run the bases.
