ITF: Feb. 8 Athletes of the Week

DALLAS – As the indoor season nears a close, Conference USA has recognized WKU, UAB, Rice and Charlotte track and field student athletes for the weekly league honors.Kat Duren (Charlotte) was named the women’s track athlete, while WKU senior high jumper Katie Isenbarger repeated as the field athlete this week. On the men’s side, Charlotte’s Nick Scudder was recognized while Rice multis freshman Grant Levesque picked up the field award for his performance in the heptathlon. All C-USA weekly awards are presented by Surf and Turf Golf. 

C-USA Female Track Athlete of the Week – Kat Duren, UAB, Fr., Haverhill, Mass. 
Duren broke the UAB school record in the 60m hurdles with her 8.39 at the Harvard Crimson Elite Invitational. She also set a personal best in the 200m (24.87). Her 60m hurdles time ranks second in the C-USA this season and 55th nationally as of Tuesday. 

C-USA Female Field Athlete of the Week – Katie Isenbarger, WKU, Sr., Zionsville, Ind.
In her second meet of the season, Isenbarger broke her own record once again to claim first place in the high jump after clearing 6' even. It's the second consecutive meet where she's broken the program record that she owns, and she now holds four of the top five indoor marks in school history. The 6' clearance has her tied for eighth in the nation in the indoor standings and first in C-USA by an inch and a half.
 
C-USA Male Track Athlete of the Week – Nick Scudder, Charlotte, So., Raleigh, N.C.
Scudder set the Charlotte school record in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:02.54 winning the event at the VT Doc Hale Meet. He also clocked a personal-best and school record time of 8:02.18 in the 3,000m to win the event. Both his mile and 3,000m time lead C-USA this season. 
 
C-USA Male Field Athlete of the Week – Grant Levesque, Rice, Fr., El Paso, Texas
Levesque recorded his first collegiate victory at the Charlie Thomas Invitational at Texas A&M. He totaled 5,499 points, which leads C-USA, a mark that also rankes 25th in the NCAA. He won the 60m hurdles (8.26), and pole vault (5.00m), while finishing second in the 60m (6.99), long jump (6.75m) and shot put (12.36m).
