DENTON, Texas – Aly Gamez and Jazion Jackson combined for 33 points as North Texas handed UAB its third straight setback, 67-60 on Saturday afternoon at the Super Pit.
 
Zakyia Weathersby recorded her 18^th double-double of the season with 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Emily Klaczek and Kylee Schneringer each added 11 points for the Blazers 13-11, 5-6 C-USA).
 
Madi Townley scored seven points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Mean Green (14-10, 8-6 C-USA), who have won six straight.
 
After jumping out to an early 12-5 lead at 7:05 of the 1^st quarter, the Blazers went cold, missing their next eight shots. The Mean Green went on a 10-0 run that was finally stopped by a pair of Margaret Whitley free throws that closed out quarter with UNT ahead 15-14.
 
UAB would take a 20-18 lead at the 6:43 mark of the 2^nd quarter before a 13-4 run gave UNT its largest lead of the half, seven points at 31-24 with 2:24 remaining. Jaylen Mallard's jumper sent the game into halftime with North Texas ahead 33-27.
 
North Texas' lead would get as high as 11 points after Amber Dixon's and-1 made the score 46-35 with 1:35 left in the 3^rd quarter. The Mean Green would see an 11-point advantage four more times, the last coming with 1:39 remaining in the contest.
 
Although UAB shot 46% for the game, they only converted 23% of their 3-point attempts. The Blazers outrebounded the Mean Green 37-36 and had 40 points in the paint to the Mean Green's 18.
 
The Blazers return to Birmingham for the next two weeks with a four-game homestand. Up first is the rescheduled game against Rice on Feb. 21 at 5 p.m. UAB will host UTSA (Feb. 23), UTEP (Feb. 26) and Southern Miss (Mar. 3) before the regular season finale at LA Tech on Mar. 5.
