Texas sweeps top spot on College Baseball Hall of Fame Power Poll

LUBBOCK, Texas – After a dominating weekend at Disch-Falk Field, the Texas Longhorns are the overwhelming No. 1 choice this week for the National College Baseball Hall of Fame Power Poll.

Texas took all six first-place votes in this week’s poll after outscoring Rice 36-3 in three games.

Three teams were the biggest movers, each jumping six spots this week. LSU leapt from No. 9 to No. 3 after a sweep at home of Maine in Jay Johnson’s debut as head coach. Oklahoma State went from No. 14 to No. 8 after going on the road and taking two from previous No. 2 Vanderbilt and Arizona jumped from No. 18 to No. 12 after sweeping three games at the State Farm College Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, scoring a combined 35 runs against Kansas State, Oklahoma and Texas Tech.

East Carolina and Florida tied for the biggest drop of the week of teams that remained in the poll. Florida fell from No. 9 to No. 19 after losing two of three at home against Liberty, and East Carolina dropped from No. 12 to No. 22 after being swept at home by Bryant.

Louisiana Tech (23), Long Beach State (24) and Texas A&M (25) all make their debut in the poll this week.

Dropped out: Nebraska, UC-Irvine
Also receiving votes: San Diego 7, UCLA 7, Louisiana 4, UC-Irvine 4, Arizona State 3, Oklahoma 2, Dallas Baptist 1, Sam Houston State 1.
