WACO, Texas - HBU will travel to take on Baylor in the only road game over the first eight games of the season Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Baylor Ballpark, before turning around to host crosstown rival Rice Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Husky Field. Tuesday's game will be shown on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, while Wednesday's game will be shown on ESPN+.
 
Junior righthander Will Ripoll, a transfer from LSU and San Jacinto College, is expected to make his HBU debut against Baylor. Senior lefthander Austin Spinney is projected to take the hill against Rice.
 
Senior infielder Jake Miller is off to a hot start with multiple hits in each of the three games against Rutgers on opening weekend. He hit .583 (7-for-12) for the series, with a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Junior centerfielder Austin Roccaforte hit .444 (4-for-9) with a double, two walks and three runs.
 
Baylor will start lefthander Kobe Andrade, a transfer from Texas A&M. Cortlan Castle hit .429 (3-for-7) with a pair of RBIs in the Bears' season-opening series against Maryland, while Nicolas Balsano also hit .429 (3-for-7) and Tre Richardson drove in a pair of runs.
 
Rice will send righthander Parker Smith to the mound. Justin Long hit .375 (3-for-8) with a double and Pierce Gallo also hit .375 (3-for-8) in the Owls' three-game series at No. 1 Texas. Austin Bullman doubled and homered against the Longhorns.
 
Baylor leads the all-time series against HBU, 5-2, with all of the previous meetings in Waco. The Bears took two-of-three from the Huskies in the season-opening series in 2018. Rice leads the all-time series against HBU, 14-2, with the previous 16 meetings all at Cameron Field or Reckling and Wednesday marking the first-ever matchup between the two schools at Husky Field. The Owls took two-of-three from the Huskies in the season-opening series in 2021 and two-of-three in 2018.
 
HBU will continue its homestand with a three-game series against Hofstra Friday through Sunday at Husky Field.
