Houstonians can express their pride in our excellent city by getting out and exploring. The weekend is packed with so much, you might find yourself surprised at what H-Town is capable of offering for a night on the town.

This weekend, attend a  lecture with Chef Dawn Burrell at the Ion in Midtown or learn about the art of crafting gold at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. The House of Blues is the place to be for hip-hop music fans who want to catch the NBA Leather Tour. And Holy Space City!, Batman is going to make a pitstop in Eado.

But before you put on your cowboy boots, lace up your jogging shoes for the Rodeo Run.

Here, we’ve rounded up the best five things to do in Houston this weekend:

Rodeo Run 10K

It’s that time of year to get our collective “Yee-Haw” on by ushering in rodeo season with the annual Rodeo Run. The run includes a 10K wheelchair competition, 5K and 10K Elite, 5K and 10K timed races, and the untimed 5K. The run will take place ahead of the Downtown Rodeo Parade (which kicks off an hour later at 10 a.m.) on Saturday, starting at the corner of Bagby and Walker streets, and ending at Eleanor Tinsley Park for the post-race party. All proceeds from the race will go towards the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, which is also a charitable organization.

Rodeo Run 10K, Downtown. Saturday, February 26 at 9:00 a.m. Registration is required and prices vary depending on race. More information here.

Chef Dawn Burrell in Conversation at The Ion

Former Top Chef Finalist Dawn Burrell is headed to the newly opened Ion in Midtown for a chat with ABC13 anchor Melanie Lawson.  They’ll discuss her journey as a chef, and her forthcoming new restaurant, Late August. The new soul food cafe will be located inside the Ion,  the new multipurpose innovation hub owned by Rice University. Guests will be able to ask Burrell questions and sample some of the menu.

Ion, 4201 Main Street. Friday, February 25 at 11 a.m. Free, but registration is required. More information here.

Batman Takeover

DC Universe fans can witness superheroes up close with Batman taking over Segundo Coffee Lab in EaDo. Segundo Coffee Lab, 711 Milby Street. Friday, February 25, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. More information here.

NBA Leather Tour
